Signs of life

We’ve come across some interesting road signs and public notices over the years, in a variety of places:  remote, picturesque, ancient, weather-worn – or just really surprising!   Here’s a selection of my favourites.

This must be one of the original metal finger posts; seen in East Lothian

Old cattle drovers' route on the West Highland Way

Sheet ice slips off a road sign near Machynlleth, Mid Wales

Frost at Ty'n y Coed, a National Trust site in North Wales

Rolling Stones? No, sorry - just standing ones

Old slate milestone near Penmachno, N Wales

Silent worship tonight, at Betws y Coed in North Wales

Arm yourself... the hens at Skipness don't take prisoners

Mile stone near Port Ellen, Islay; see the roe deer behind?

  1. I especially like the choir one, and I love those black and white ones in East Lothian. A fine collection.

Thank you! I was surprised at how many we had photographed. I can remember seeing signposts like the East Lothian one on every crossroad.

These are great Jo !!! I love seeing signs from around the world. Some are hysterical as in the choir sign and the poultry sign. Must be careful of those bionic chickens!
